While the weather is a little different than what people know for the Bike Ride to Rippey, the Perry Chamber of Commerce will host a mini version of the ride next month.
Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says the Chamber is planning a ride called the Bike Ride to the Rec. Pasutti says the Chamber was thinking of ideas for more community involvement but realized that regular BRR in February may be difficult with weather conditions and being more geared towards adults.
“After talking to a couple of people with small children and thinking about the logistics of all of that on a winter day not knowing what the temperature would be, we thought well this would be a really good opportunity to do something fun six months, at that half way point for the next BRR. It’s a chance to promote what’s coming up but then get the community involved, have something fun, a shorter ride that is family friendly.”
Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio the ride is short at only a mile-and-a-half long which means all levels of riders will be able to participate in the ride from Josh Davis Plaza to the Rec Center in Perry. Pasutti says the event will take place on August 5th, exactly six months away from the February 2022 BRR.
“We are just excited to present this to the community, see where it goes. This will be the first time doing something like this.”
The Bike Ride to the Rec will begin at 5:30 p.m. August 5th and no pre-registration is required to participate.
