Immediately after losing to Class 3A third ranked Gilbert at Gilbert 9-0 on Friday night in the opening round of the high school baseball postseason, Greene County head coach Matt Paulsen talked on air with Raccoon Valley Radio KGRA 98.9FM. The Rams won seven of their last 10 games and finished the season at 9-15. The coach thanked the three seniors on the team, Peyton Kinsey, Cameren Miller, and Alex Roberts, for their time and efforts over the years.
Coach Paulsen gave a quick assessment for 2022, which was positive with top starting pitchers Bryce Stalder and Joe Carey returning, along with others who have shown promise on the mound at times. Stalder batted over .400 and Kole Teeples topped .370. Seven of the 10 starters (including a Designated Hitter) were juniors, sophomores, or freshmen. Add some players from a solid JV team and the coach is optimistic about the possibilities for 2022.
