The high school baseball regular season is over for the Greene County Rams and the postseason is here. Head Coach Matt Paulsen takes his 9-14 Rams to Story County to face the Gilbert Tigers in Gilbert tonight in a Class 3A Substate 8 quarterfinal round game at 7 p.m. The contest can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Greene County has won seven of its last nine games after starting the season losing 12 of the first 14. Improved hitting and pitching have both been keys to the strong finish to the regular season.

Gilbert is 21-8 and winners of the Raccoon River Activities Conference title in its first year in the league after leaving the Heart of Iowa, where they and Greene County were rivals for 13 years. The Rams remain a Heart of Iowa Conference member.

Tonight’s winner plays on Monday against either Glenwood or Harlan with Atlantic, Winterset, Carroll, and Denison-Schleswig, the other teams in Substate 8.
