Jefferson native John Case, the professional MMA fighter who goes by Johnny “Hollywood” Case, will be making his professional boxing debut this Saturday night. The event is called Extreme/Maximus Fightfest and boxing at Wild Rose Casino & Resort Jefferson is hosting several bouts. Starting time is 6:30 p.m.
Case was set to fight MMA in Japan, but told Raccoon Valley Radio due to Tokyo hosting the Olympics no international fighters are allowed in the country due to COVID-19. He lives in Las Vegas, but is spending time in Iowa and the fight card promoter reached out, made the offer, and Case accepted. He’s never been in a boxing match before, however MMA has certain elements of boxing. The gloves, the strategy, and technique, are all new to Case, but he said he’s enjoyed learning the new sport.
