A reminder that a monthly program at the Stuart Library is happening later this week.
The Books and Badges program will be held at 10am Friday at the library with Stuart Police Officer Katie Guisinger. Officer Guisinger says the program is geared toward kids between 2 and 8 years-old and she describes the details of the program.
“So I start by, we just visit and chat for a few minutes and then I read a couple of stories to them. Sometimes we have themes. So we really try to encourage, we’re reading stories, we try to have something and a little fun. And then I try to encourage that reading by letting them have something to take home that they can keep.”
Guisinger says Books and Badges is self-funded and relies on donations to help give kids free books to take home. The theme for the upcoming Friday program is watermelon-related. Each Books and Badges is free and no pre-registration is required.
