Thursday, July 8th

7:49am: Public Works Director Dave Morlan reported finding two bicycles on the shelter roof at Kelso Park. An officer identified the owner of the bikes and made arrangements to have them returned.

3:03pm: Tom Semke reported hearing gunshots in the area of Daubendiek Park. An officer searched the area, but not locate the source of the noise.

6:23pm: A traffic stop in the 400 block of North Elm Street resulted in Eric Brinks, of Glidden, being cited for Excessive Speed (6-10 over).

10:23pm: Duane Holman reported a male that had fallen in the 200 block of West Lincolnway. An officer located the subject and requested EMS evaluate him. The subject refused further medical attention. The officer gave him a ride to his residence in Jefferson.

Friday, July 9th

1:05pm: An officer provided a funeral escort from the Presbyterian Church to the Jefferson Cemetery.

1:41pm: The Greene County Medical Center requested an officer at the Emergency Room for a patient who was being uncooperative with staff members. Officers assisted until the situation was under control.

4:11pm: Patricia Todd reported an elderly male who was confused, and sitting on a bench in the 1000 block of West Adams Street. An officer determined that the subject came from a nearby residence, and was confused about where he was supposed to be. The officer assisted in getting him returned to his residence.

6:25pm: Melinda Gallagher reported three domesticated turkeys running at large in the 700 block of South Vine Street. An officer located the owner and subsequently returned them.

6:56pm: A Greene County Sheriffs Deputy reported a dog running at large in the 900 block of West Mahlon Street. An officer located the dog, which was subsequently caught by the caretaker and returned to its residence. The officer cited Ashley Tuhn, of Jefferson, for “Animals Running at Large”.

Saturday, July 10th

1:43am: Janet Bass reported receiving a restricted number and called the Law Enforcement Center to ask if anybody from the Police Department had tried calling her. She was advised that the Police Department did not attempt to contact her. The dispatcher requested an officer do a welfare check on the caller. The officer did so, and determined that the caller was not in need of assistance.

2:18am: Sparky’s One Stop reported a “gas drive off” that had occurred earlier in the day. The officer identified the subject, who later returned to the store and paid for the fuel.

3:11am: A Jefferson Officer assisted a Greene County Deputy with a vehicle pursuit that had begun on 230th Street. The subject subsequently crashed the fleeing vehicle and ran from the area on foot. He was not located at that time.

9:28am: A Jefferson Officer assisted a Greene County Deputy near 310 th Street and I Avenue after the Deputy located the subject that had eluded officers earlier in the day. The subject ran from the deputy on foot, and was subsequently apprehended by the officer. Charles Bradshaw II was transported to the Greene County Jail and charged with various crimes by the Sheriffs Office.

12:24pm: Regency Park reported that a resident had left the building in a wheelchair and was being uncooperative with staff members. An officer located the subject in the 100 block of East Vest Street. After a conversation with the subject, she agreed to return to the facility.

12:28pm: Loren Weiderin reported that she had caught a dog that had been running at large in the 100 block of West Madison Street. An officer subsequently returned the dog to its owner.

3:23pm: Lorie Pierson reported a bicycle parked in the travel portion of the alley, south of the 300 block of West Reed Street. An officer moved the bike of out the travel portion of the alley.

9:01pm: Bradley Wilson reported that the American Flag at the Greene County High School was laying on the ground. An officer located the flag, that appeared to have fallen to the ground because of the weather, and transported it to the VFW.

Sunday, July 11th

1:03am: An officer assisted a deputy with a Traffic Stop at 220 th and Elm Streets. Two female occupants of the vehicle were providing officers with false information. The officer was given permission to search the vehicle and one female advised the officer of a small amount of marijuana in her purse. The officer arrested Tijera Takeny McQueen, 21 of Des Moines for, “Possession of Controlled Substance/marijuana – Serious.” The deputy handled all charges for the driver.

7:27am: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Mulberry Streets resulted in Roy Fulton of Webster City being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

7:50am: A Traffic Stop at Elm and 250th Streets resulted in Chad Sloan of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

12:21pm: A Traffic Stop at Elm and 220th Streets resulted in Jay Wenger of Beaver being cited for, “Driving While Suspended and Operation without Registration.”

2:09pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Elm Streets resulted in Heather Armstrong of Jamacia being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

4:49pm: A Traffic Stop at Elm and Grauer Streets resulted in Deseree Slape of Eagle Grove being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

3:25pm: Elizabeth Gross advised her 13-year-old son had ran away. The officer located the juvenile a short time later walking on Elm Street and returned him to his parents.

Monday, July 12th

6:52am: An officer investigated a Rear End Accident at Chestnut and Lincoln Way Streets. A 2006 Chevrolet K2500, owned and operated by Adam Huen of Jefferson, was stopped at the posted stop sign at Lincoln Way and Chestnut Streets. A 2008 Hyundai Entourage, owned by Hermelinda Zuniga of Jefferson and operated by Katrina Stilson of Paton, collided into the rear of the Huen vehicle. The Huen vehicle had a reported $1500.00 in damages, while the Zuniga vehicle suffered a reported $5000.00 in damages. Stilson was cited for, “Driving While Revoked and Fail to Stop in Assured Clear Distance Ahead.”

7:05am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 1200 Block of Westwood Drive.

12:04pm: An officer assisted a motorist having vehicle issues at Elm and West Clarks Streets. The vehicle was removed from the roadway a short time later.

4:46pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Oakland resulted in Alyssa Slusser of Fort Dodge being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

5:19pm: Officers were called to the 400 Block of West Adams Street for a Dog Bite. The officers learned a female was walking her Boston Terrier on leash in the 400 Block and two German Shepherds approached her. They began to attack her dog, as four other dogs ran towards her. A male was chasing behind the animals. The officer learned the running animals belonged at 308 North Oak Street and had gotten loose from the owner. The Terrier was deceased when the officers arrived. Two German Shepherds were deemed “Illegal Animals” after the attack, according to Animal Ordinances. The owner was advised the two Shepherds were to leave the city Limits, or be euthanized. The owner elected to remove the animals from Jefferson and provided the officer with information and phone numbers were they would be going. Larry Jon Hovick was cited for, “Animals Running At Large-Prohibited (6 Counts). All animals involved are current on rabies vaccinations.

5:05pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Elm Streets resulted in Jordan Thompson of Vinton being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

6:53pm: Brenda Batschelet spoke with an officer about a Civil Issue.

7:57pm: Jr Lopez reported a Stray Dog near Pinet and Adams Streets. The officer was unable to locate the reported animal.

9:03pm: Caleb Silbaugh reported a Careless Driver spinning the vehicles tires near Maple and Lincoln Way Streets. The officer was able to locate the vehicle on 220 th and Elm Streets and locked the vehicle’s speed on radar. The driver admitted to spinning his tires, which was the first report. The officer issued Brayden Greimann of Grand Junction citations for, “Excessive Speed and Careless Driving.”
