Two rounds of tornado warnings in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area prompted the Severe Weather Action Team coverage Saturday.
The National Weather Service issued the first tornado warning at 4:36pm for southeastern Guthrie County and southwestern Dallas County. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf reported cloud rotation between Diamondhead Lake and Redfield before the warning in Guthrie County expired ahead of when it was supposed to at 5pm. Then the warning was extended in Dallas County until 5:30pm.
Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard said there were no immediate reports of property damage from the tornado warning, but that there were weather spotters deployed in Dallas Center, Minburn, Bouton, DeSoto and Adel, where there was also heavy rainfall. At no time was there ever confirmation of a tornado during the warning.
There were four Raccoon Valley Radio staff, Weatherology meteorologists, along with Kempf and Leonard that provided live coverage of the tornado warnings.
