A high speed chase through Perry early Sunday morning ends with an arrest and several charges.
Perry Police Sergeant Jim Archer tells Raccoon Valley Radio the incident started at 3:42am as an officer was trying to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of Willis Avenue and Diagonal Road for a 2011 GMC Sierra that had no license plates. Archer says the driver, 20-year-old Daniel Perez-Garcia of Perry, allegedly refused to stop and sped off, reaching speeds of 74-miles-per-hour.
Archer says Perez-Garcia turned onto Warford Street and tried to pull into the alley behind Clean Works, when the Sierra hit a utility box and disabled the vehicle. Archer points out Perez-Garcia was then apprehended without incident and no one was hurt in the incident.
Perez-Garcia was charged with a Class D Felony for eluding, two serious misdemeanors for his first offense for an OWI and first offense for possession of marijuana, along with several traffic infractions. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail.
