Greene County went 6-16 during the recently completed high school softball season. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team was very young with one senior and one junior among the 10 players in the usual starting lineup.
We look today at pitching statistics. Emma Hoyle completed her third season as the top Greene County pitcher, yet she was only a sophomore. Hoyle went 6-10 with a 5.40 earned run average. In 102-1/3 innings, she allowed 123 hits, 60 walks and 16 batters hit with pitches. Hoyle struck out 109 batters. Freshman Kaylee Stalder was 0-4 with all her varsity innings taking place early in the season. Stalder suffered a concussion vs. Perry and missed three weeks of action. She was 0-4 in 16-1/3 innings with a 11.14 ERA. The Rams forfeited two games right after the Stalder injury due to her being out and Hoyle dealing with injury issues of her own.
Coach Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio one of his goals is to develop a deeper pitcher staff and have more girls start pitching at a younger age.
