A Bayard woman was recently sentenced to probation for a September incident.

According to court documents, 30-year-old Gabriella Madison pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for her second offense for possession of marijuana. She had a two year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for one year.

The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office that began on September 16th. Deputies responded to a request of a landlord in Bayard about people squatting in an apartment. After law enforcement entered the apartment, drug-related items were also found in plain view. A search warrant was executed and several items were seized and sent in for testing.

Madison was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines, surcharges and court costs. Madison was also guilty of probation revocation from a previous July 2020 conviction and will continue her three years of probation, which is to run consecutively with the one year of probation sentence. She was originally charged with two Class D Felonies for her third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance.
