A Jefferson man was arrested following an early Thursday morning alleged domestic abuse incident.

According to court documents, Jefferson Police Officers responded to a call of an assault in the 600 block of West State Street at 1:48am. The victim suffered injuries that supported the claim that assault had taken place. The suspect, 31-year-old Anthony Peterson, was not at the residence when officers arrived on scene. Peterson was later found and arrested.

Peterson was charged with a Class C Felony for willful injury causing serious injury and a serious misdemeanor for his first offense for domestic abuse assault. Additionally, there is a no contact order in place with the victim. Peterson was booked and released from the Greene County Jail after posting bond.
