A country music legend will perform at the Greene Room events center at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson tomorrow.

Lee Greenwood, who began his career in the 1960s playing in various venues in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be in Jefferson. Arguably his biggest hit song, “God Bless the U.S.A.” Greenwood describes how that 1984 song may not have come to fruition as a hit single.

“It was never intended to be a single, but just an extra on an album called, ‘You’ve Got a Good Love Coming.’ But when Universal actually heard it for the first time, they’re the ones that made the call in 1984 to release it as a single, which kind of surprised me. Because it was a little bit out of context. At that conjunction in my career, we were releasing those hit songs, those wonderful ballads written not just by me but other artists in Nashville who really knew how to write love songs.”

Greenwood adds, the song never made it as a number one hit song on the music charts. He will be playing tomorrow night at 8pm and the doors open at 7. Tickets are still available for the show.
