Tuesday, June 22nd
10:39am: Mary Zollars of Jefferson reported having seen several foxes in her back yard. The Officer referred the call to the DNR
11:10am: Oly’s Corner reported a gas drive off had occurred in the amount of $50.02. During the investigation, it was found the female driver had forgotten to pay and returned later to pay the debt.
5:15pm: Dennis Smith of Jefferson reported a vehicle in the HyVee parking lot being parked in a handicap space without a permit. The Officer investigated and found the vehicle did have a valid permit affixed to the rearview mirror
6:15pm: Susan Forkner of Jefferson reported a bat needing to be removed from 112 East State Street. The Officer caught the bat and removed it from the property
9:03pm: On Officer preformed a Traffic Stop near the intersection of North Elm Street / 220th. As a result, Shawn Sprenger of Perry was issued a citation for “Operating a Non Registered Vehicle”
Wednesday, June 23rd
10:15am: An officer assisted Greene County EMS in the 800 block of West South Street.
11:27am: An officer delivered a message, from the Story County Attorney, to a Jefferson resident.
3:08pm: An Imagine the Possibilities employee requested a welfare check on a resident of 1000 West Adams Street. The officer discovered that the subject was not in need of immediate assistance.
3:50pm: Jerry Lane came to the Greene County LEC and reported that he had received a telephone call from an unknown person, claiming to be with “Shazam Bank Cards”. The caller had advised Mr. Lane that his debit card had been fraudulently used, and requested he purchase gift cards to correct the issue. Mr. Lane was advised that the call was from a “scammer”, as this is a common practice to deprive people of money. The call was ended. Mr. Lane did not occur a loss.
4:06pm: Bruce Banister reported that his neighbor was trespassing on his property at 704 West Sunset Road. The officer spoke to all involved. The officer is investigating the situation.
5:00pm: An officer became aware of a vehicle that had been parked on the street, in violation of “overtime parking”, in the 700 block of Sunset Road. The officer relayed a message to the owner of the vehicle and advised her it needed to be moved. The vehicle was subsequently moved.
6:42pm: Dollar General reported a Theft. Two subjects had gathered items within the store, went to the self-checkout, but did not pay for the items, valued at $148.57. The subjects left the store with the merchandise. The officer is investigating.
10:26pm: Haley Jones requested a welfare check on a subject in the 600 block of West State Street. The officer made contact with the subject and determined there were no problems.
10:41pm: Amy Blum reported a possible harassment situation involving a family. The officer collected information, deemed it to be a civil issue, and advised Blum to contact an attorney if needed.
**** An officer completed an investigation that was began on June 15, 2021 after being called to Hy-Vee in regards to a subject who had purchased alcoholic beverages for minors. Ian Graves, of Jefferson, was charged with “Supplying Alcohol to Persons Under Legal Age” A warrant for his arrest was requested.
Thursday, June 24th
2:46am: An officer assisted Greene County EMS in the 700 block of South Wilson Street.
8:27am: A traffic stop in the 100 block of Ram Drive resulted in Eric Grevson, of Jefferson, being cited for Violation of Financial Liability Coverage and Driving While Suspended, Revoked, Canceled, or Denied.
10:49am: Jefferson City Hall requested a welfare check at a residence in the 400 block of North Locust Street. An officer determined that there were no problems at the residence.
12:26pm: An anonymous female reported a violation of a no contact order, that had taken place between two other subjects. The officer collected information and is investigating.
3:17pm: Jefferson City Hall reported a possible vehicle collision near North Chestnut Street and East Adams Street. An officer responded and determined that a collision had not occurred. There were a group of people, who have had ongoing issues with each other, arguing. The officer spoke to all involved and advised them if they continue to harass each other they could all be charged.
9:09pm: An officer checked on a vehicle that was parked on North Grimmell Road, near the High School. The officer determined that the driver had pulled over to briefly operate a camera. No assistance was needed.
9:11pm: An anonymous caller reported young children lighting fires, in violation of a burn ban and city ordinance, at 104 North Cedar Street. An officer spoke to an adult female at the residence and advised her that open burning was not permitted at that time.
10:03pm: Tickcha Jaimes reported an air compressor causing a disturbance in the 100 block of North Cedar Street. An officer checked the area short time later, but did not see or hear anything out of the ordinary.
****An officer completed an investigation that had been started on June 6 th , 2021, in regards to an adult male who had physically assaulted a juvenile. The officer charged Joshua Rodgers, of Jefferson, with Child Endangerment – Serious Injury. A warrant was requested for his arrest.
Friday, June 25th
9:46am: Brooke Taylor reported a dog running at large in the 300 block of North Oak Street. An officer responded and located the dog. The owner was subsequently identified, and the dog was returned to its residence. The officer cited Robert Fuller, of Jefferson, for Animals Running at Large.
2:16pm: An officer assisted Greene County EMS at 1000 West Washington Street.
4:28pm: Dollar General Reported a shoplifter that had been observed on camera. The subject had left the store before an officer arrived. The officer is investigating.
5:54pm: Deb Beddow reported a harassment from a contractor who had previously done work for her. The officer spoke to all involved and determined that the issue was mostly civil in nature. The officer also advised the contractor if he returns to Beddow’s residence he could be charged with Trespassing.
7:28pm: A traffic stop in the 500 block of North Elm Street resulted in an officer arresting Tyler Howell, of Fort Dodge, for Driving While Barred.
8:35pm: The Jefferson Police Department, with assistance from the Greene County Sheriffs Office, and the Iowa State Patrol, executed a search warrant for controlled substances at 301 ½ East Lincolnway. The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation by the Jefferson Police Department. During the search warrant, suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia were located. Charges are pending the completion of the investigation and results from the DCI Laboratory.
9:55pm: Earl Cherryholmes reported fireworks being set off in the 400 block of North Maple Street. An officer responded to the area, but not locate the source of the fireworks.
Saturday, June 26th
12:09am: Chris Dzuris reported a stray cat in the 400 block of Sundown Court. An officer was unable to catch the cat.
12:38am: A traffic stop, on Highway 30 within the city limits of Jefferson, resulted in Cooper Warner of Onawa, being cited for Excessive Speed (6-10 over).
1:20am: An officer found an unlocked business door in the 1200 block of North Elm. The officer searched the building, found nothing out of the ordinary, and secured the business.
2:50pm: Jinny Coil reported being harassed by another female subject. The officer spoke to involved parties and them to end contact with one another.
4:35pm: Janon Olson reported fireworks being set off somewhere in the area of North Olive Street. An officer located the source of the fireworks and explained to the subject that City Ordinance in regards to Fireworks is different that State Law, and that fireworks were not allowed in violation of the city ordinance. The subjects said they would stop setting them off.
7:46pm: An officer went to 204 North Maple Street in an attempt to speak to a subject about an ongoing investigation. While at the residence the officer saw a suspected controlled substance. The officer subsequently charged Sean Shell, of Jefferson, with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana, and requested a warrant for his arrest.
9:11pm: An anonymous female reported a possible intoxicated driver on Westwood Drive. A vehicle description was provided. An officer located and observed the vehicle, but did not see any traffic violations of signs of the driver being impaired.
10:10pm: Chase Goodman reported seeing a dog in a vehicle at the Casino, and said it had been there for two hours. An officer located the vehicle, and noticed a food and water dish inside of it, but there was not a dog in the vehicle.
11:55pm: A juvenile reported a domestic disturbance between his parents in the 200 block of North Cedar Street. An officer responded and determined that the subjects were arguing, but there had not been a physical altercation. The subjects agreed to separate for the night.
Sunday, June 27th
1:25am: An officer responded to an Alarm Activation at 106 West Washington Street. The officer found the business to be secure. The officer spoke to an employee in the main store and learned an employee had accidentally tripped the alarm.
6:18pm: Officers assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call at 1107 North Maple Street.
8:19pm: Steve Coil reported a Stray Dog in the 1600 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. The officer located the owner and he retrieved the animal.
10:05pm: A Traffic Stop at Elm and American Avenue resulted in Alexis Jordan of Jefferson being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
