The return of the Greene County Farmers Market is tomorrow.
The weekly event will take place every Tuesday through August 31st from 4-6:30pm on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson. The market typically opens at the beginning of June and co-organizer Alexis Stevens explains why there was a delayed to start to this year’s market.
“Well the farmers market earlier in the end of spring/early summer doesn’t tend to have as much as exciting things that the producers are growing. So what we’re hoping to see at this market, if not tomorrow, then in the next week or two is thing like sweet corn, and tomatoes, and zucchini, and melons, and berries, things that people are really excited to get.”
Co-organizer Chris Henning reminds customers to observe social distancing and there will be several hand sanitizing stations on site, and those who have not been fully vaccinated are recommended to wear a mask. There’s still time to sign up to be a vendor and you can contact the Welcome Center in Jefferson at 515-386-2155.
