A Fort Dodge man was recently sentenced to a short jail sentence for a February incident in Greene County.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Todd Grimsman pled guilty to a lesser charge of a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree theft and two simple misdemeanors for criminal trespassing. He was sentenced to two days in the Greene County Jail for the theft and one of the trespassing charges.
The charges stem from a February 15th incident. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office investigated a burglary of two homes in the 100 and 200 blocks of 185th Street. During the investigation, footprints were found in the snow on each property and then a deputy found the suspected vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After Grimsman and a second suspect, 46-year-old Amy Taylor of Fort Dodge, gave consent to search their vehicle, suspected stolen items were found.
Grimsman was also ordered to pay over $2,000 in fines, surcharges, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. He was originally charged with two Class D Felonies for third degree burglary. Taylor is awaiting her trial.
