A contest recently went live that may help bring a one-of-a-kind mural to a Guthrie County town. 

The City of Stuart has entered into a contest that required a video to be made showcasing different aspects of the city. Stuart Chamber Director Brenda Dudley says the contest is through the Iowa Economic Development Authority and requires people to vote for the video of Stuart throughout next week.

“There is probably about 20 videos from different towns available and so you go and you vote for your video. You can vote once a day up until June 30th and then the video with the most votes, a artist comes to town and paint a mural.”

Dudley says the town has been trying to get a mural in the pocket park for years. 

“We have been trying to get it for years because we are thinking it would be a tourist attraction. That pocket park is a nice park, people come downtown already to take pictures of that Bonnie and Clyde building. So, it would just be one more attraction for downtown to get some of those people off the interstate.”

Those who would like to vote can do so once per day and votes must be made through the contest webpage here. Voting ends at 5 p.m. on June 30th.
