As the Fourth of July comes up closer on the calendar, the City of Perry is reminding residents of its fireworks ordinance .
Perry residents can only shoot off fireworks within City limits on July 4th from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and can only be on the user’s property or property of someone who has given them permission to do so.
Fireworks cannot be used in public places such as parks, cemeteries, public streets or sidewalks, or within 200 yards of a hospital or senior care facility. Also, fireworks may only be used by those over the age of 18 and not over the legal alcohol limit or under the influence of drugs or narcotics.
The penalty for violation of any of the laws will be a fine in the amount of $250. Contact the Perry Police Department to report any violation of the ordinance, by calling 515-465-4636. For a full list of the regulations you can go here.
