A Stuart man was sentenced to probation after making a threatening phone call to the governor.

According to court documents, 48-year-old Harvey Hunter had a one year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for one year, after he pled guilty to a lesser charge of a serious misdemeanor for second degree harassment.

The charge stemmed from a January 5th voicemail he left for Governor Kim Reynolds where he used threats against her, which the Iowa State Patrol then investigated.

Hunter also has a five year no contact order in place. He was originally charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for first-degree harassment.
