A Saturday evening fire north of Stuart resulted in severe property damage.
According to the Stuart Fire Department, the Stuart and Redfield fire departments, along with Stuart Rescue and the Stuart Police Department, responded to the scene of a corn crib fire at 3230 272nd Lane at 6:05pm Saturday. When fire crews arrived on scene, the corn crib was fully engulfed in flames, along with a boat and a grain bin.
Fire crews were able to knock down and extinguish the flames before it could spread to other nearby property. Fire Chief Josh Renslow said no one was hurt in the incident and the cause was undetermined. However, he added, the dry conditions impacted how they fought the fire, as it eventually spread to the nearby corn and soybean fields.
