Another new business in Guthrie Center will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday.

Guthrie Center Chamber Board President Shannon Neff-Muell says the ribbon cutting for Cafe on the Hill will take place at 12:15pm. She points out the restaurant features breakfast and lunch items, with burgers and sandwiches, along with desserts and ice cream.

Neff-Muell talks about what it’s like to have so many special events for businesses, while the Chamber plays caught up from last year, when the pandemic spoiled a lot of those events.

“We’re excited to be able to start having events and start encouraging people to get out, and be in person, and go shopping, and support our businesses. It was extremely hard for our small businesses to stay open. We still feel a little bit of that, even now coming out of this pandemic. But we’re just excited to help our businesses grow and keep bringing new businesses to town.”

Last Friday was a ribbon cutting ceremony for Melissa Loest with Edward Jones to celebrate her first year of business and Guthrie County State Bank honored its 90th anniversary with free ice cream. Finally, this past Saturday was another ribbon cutting for the new bathhouse at the Guthrie Center Aquatic Center.
