As Dallas County continues to grow, so do the organizations that are operating within the county.

Dallas County Extension Master Gardener Coordinator Megan Will says they are continuing to plan to create a new demonstration garden. She points out the reason for the garden is due to the fact that the Extension Office is getting a new building that will be on the ground of the old demonstration garden.

“Dallas County is the fastest growing county in Iowa and we’ve kind of outgrown our little building with all the different projects and programs that Dallas County Extension is involved in. We are growing and we needed a bigger building. Well the perfect spot for that was where our old garden was.”

Will tells Raccoon Valley Radio extension has already had a plant sale to raise money for the demonstration garden as well as other plans to raise funds. Will says individual people or businesses can help out too.

“If you are a business or an individual who likes what the extension is doing and the master gardeners (are) doing and you want to donate $10 or $1,000 we would take anything so that we can have a beautiful demonstration garden.”

For those who would like to donate to the demonstration garden, checks can be made payable to Dallas County Extension.
