With the Perry Farmers Market underway, the first special event will be taking place this week. 

Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says this Thursday is health and wellness night. 

“So, we will have more vendors down at the farmers market, our regular vendors but then these special guests as well. So, these are people like Dallas County Hospital, Dallas County Public Health. Those are obvious choices for a health type event but we also have Dallas County Conservation and SNAP Fitness will be joining us on the wellness side of things.”

Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Perry Public Library will also be at the farmers market this week for their first produce giveaway and HyVee will also be on hand as well. 

“They will be doing a grill out so each of these monthly events will also have prepared food available as well. Trying to get that built up so we have some kind of food available at each market but this year we’re really just starting off, slow steps at least those special events will have some kind of food.”

The farmers market will be taking place from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Josh Davis Plaza.
