The Teen Summer Reading Program with the Jefferson Public Library will start later this week.
Library Director Jane Millard says the program will be on Thursdays from June 17th-August 5th at Russell Park in Jefferson. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors Your World” and it is for 6th-12th graders. Millard points out there are three parts to this year’s teen program, including reading and craft-maker projects, a bingo challenge and outdoor games, snacks and crafts in the park. Millard describes how the bingo challenge works.
“This sheet is filled with fun challenges such as do a funny dance, read in an unusual spot, or teens can make up their own bingo challenges. So one part of the sheet is blank for them to fill in.”
Once the cards are filled in, teens are to drop them off at the library and choose a prize for completing it. Teens can also be entered to win prizes at the final party by reading and filling out six book reviews. Teens that are interested in participating in the free Teen Summer Reading Program can contact the library at 515-386-2835 for more information.
