Greene County softball went to Roland on Monday to play a varsity softball doubleheader with Roland-Story. The Rams lost the first game 12-4 and forfeited the second game due to illness to one pitcher and injury to another. Head coach Tom Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio late Monday night the Rams would be forfeiting a scheduled non-conference home game with ADM on Tuesday due to the situation with Greene County pitching. KG98 was scheduled to broadcast the action with the Tigers Tuesday, but the forfeit means the game won’t be played.

The one game that was played on Monday saw R-S led 9-0 before the Rams got on the scoreboard. Carmyn Paup had the lone extra base hit for the Rams, a double, and she drove in two runs. Emma Stream had three singles and two RBI, with two base hits from Alexa Peters and one each by Olivia Shannon and Paige Teeples. The Rams had three errors  and left eight runners on base.

R-S had 11 hits and nine of their runs were earned off losing pitcher Emma Hoyle, who struck out five and walked eight. Coach Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio Hoyle had a knee injury and was limping, but did finish the game.

The loss and forfeits will drop the Rams to 3-12 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The Norsemen improve to 12-3.

Next on the Greene County schedule is JV/varsity action in Jewell vs. South Hamilton on Wednesday.
