Dallas Center – Grimes baseball and softball put up a respectable performance on Monday night against the Newton Cardinals, with both teams able to record the sweep, with the boys winning 4-3 and the girls 10-4. DCG girls softball moves to 9-8 on the season while the boys baseball continues to get better now up to 5-10.
Softball was able to get a five run third and a four run fourth as they were able to do damage during a key stretch. The Mustangs were able to tally eleven hits on the night and were able to get two home runs from Elle Nelson, as she was able to hit a pair of rockets to help pace the DCG attack.
Baseball was able to grind out a win after putting up two runs in both the first and second innings and withstand a pair of Cardinals rallies last to pick up the victory.
DCG will have more games coming up, as they looks to pile on more wins and continue to improve during this important June stretch.
