Greene County visited Saydel in Des Moines Friday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball. The Rams lost 3-0 and are 3-9 overall and 2-4 in the conference. The Eagles improved to 10-5.
The Rams had just four hits, all singles by Carmyn Paup, Emma Hoyle, Kaylee Stalder, and Grace Hardaway.
Saydel sophomore Dakota Lake is 7-1 with an earned run average just over one run with nearly two strikeouts per inning. That’s three earned runs a game lower than the rest of the Eagles’ pitching staff, but Lake also plays on a travel team and isn’t at every high school game. Emma Hoyle took the loss although she gave up only one earned run on five hits and one walk while striking out two.
Next up for Greene County is a conference doubleheader in Roland vs. Roland-Story on Monday.
