The Perry Elks Lodge Number 407 is preparing to celebrate Flag Day on Monday with a ceremony in Perry. 

Perry Elks Public Relations Chairperson Lisa Widick says the ceremony will be at the Josh Davis Plaza at 6 p.m. and she encourages people to come out and enjoy the event. 

“We love to help our community. We’re (a) very patriotic organization. We want to make sure that people are educated on the things that are important to us that we feel are important to the community. The American Flag and patriotism in general are big for us. Our fraternal organization at the national level requires that every individual lodge across the United States do a Flag Day ceremony on Flag Day.”

Widick says to be able to invite people to the ceremony this year means even more since last year the ceremony was very limited. Widick encourages people to attend the event and learn about the history of the country’s flag.
