3:27am: Steven Bailey advised he went to Sparky’s at 606 Hwy. 30 East, and no employees were present in the business. The officer arrived and employees were inside. They advised they were in the back for a few minutes.

3:45am: An officer checked on a male, who was sitting on the curb near Elm and Reed Streets. He was waiting for his wife, who was doing laundry in the laundromat.

11:39am: Home State Bank reported a possible Theft at 115 West State Street. A customer deposited a check and then withdrew cash from the account, and the check is fraudulent. The officer is investigating.

12:31pm: Brian Mobley reported a vehicle had broken down in the street near Vine and Washington. The officer searched the area, but did not locate the vehicle.

6:37pm: Sparky’s One Stop reported a Semi had left without paying for $313.00 in Diesel Fuel. The officer is investigating.

7:24pm: Mark Cranston reported an accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at Elm and

Washington Streets. The vehicle pulled onto Elm Street in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle driver to lay the bike on its side. Both vehicles left the accident scene before officers arrived. The officer is working to locate the motorcycle operator to gather further information about the accident.

8:36pm: Officers responded to 401 East Central Avenue for an Alarm Activation. The building was found to be secure. The officer advised the business owner of his findings.

10:05pm: An officer assisted Jefferson Fire at 104 North Cedar Street with a vehicle fire. The 2008 Ford F150 suffered extensive damage to the engine compartment.

11:28pm: John Sturgeon reported he was hearing voices near the house across the alley at 504 West Lincoln Way Street. The house is under renovations and he thought someone was messing around on the construction site. The officer did not locate anyone in the area.

******** An officer has completed an investigation that began on 06/04/2021, in which a subject placed an empty envelope in the Home State Bank ATM, located in the 100 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. A few minutes later the subject removed funds from the account at the ATM. The officer has requested an Arrest Warrant for Rodney C Sheffield, 34 of Des Moines for, “Theft 5th Degree – Simple.”
