Even though the school year has officially ended, the Perry Community School District will look different before the start of the next school year.
Superintendent Clark Wicks says there will be various projects taking place throughout the course of the summer. Those projects include the Jim Kaufman track renovation, new playground equipment at the elementary, among other projects.
“There is a lot going on, summer school, we have the fitness program as well as the construction projects.”
Wicks says another change will be the switch from the Raccoon River Conference to the Heart of Iowa Conference for Perry athletics. Wicks says the change will be exciting and will lead Perry teams to be more competitive.
“We have hope, but we have a lot of work to do and we have to have a growth mindset that we are going to get stronger, we are going to get quicker and we are going to be more competitive.”
Wicks mentions another project which will be taking place this summer is the middle school renovation project. Wicks says one thing to note before the start of the next school year is that the early outs will no longer be taking place at 2 p.m.
