Friday, June 4th

8:06am: A Traffic Stop in the 500 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in Teresa Lansman of Grand Junction being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

8:15am: Tim Pound reported an Open Door on the residence at 304 North Vine Street. The officer secured the property.

8:24am: A Traffic Stop in the 900 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Roger Olson of Churdan being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

11:32am: Raquel Strennen spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Child Custody Issue.

11:39am: Tonya Varnell spoke to an officer in connection to a Civil Property Issue occurring at 203 South West Street.

3:15pm: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of South Elm Street resulted in Parker Lehman of Dana being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

3:36pm: Heartland Bank reported possible Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card for one of its customers. The card was used to access funds from ATM Machines in Jefferson. The officer is investigating.

3:42pm: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in Benjamin Yoder of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

7:16pm: During a Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of North Elm Street, an officer noticed signs of impairment from the male driver. A small child was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop. The officer asked the male to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. The officer arrested Luke James Blakeman, 28 of Boone, and charged him with, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious, Child Endangerment – Aggravated and Open Container – Simple.” Arrangements were made for a family member to take the child from the scene.

8:25pm: Angie Christensen requested officers at 508 North Vine Street for a Domestic Issue. Officers learned her boyfriend had left the residence after an argument and was possibly suicidal. It was reported the male had a firearm with him. Officer placed an Attempt to Locate on the subject’s vehicle to conduct a Welfare Check on him. On June 6 th , 2021, officers located the male in Jefferson. He was transported to ER for a Medical Evaluation.

Saturday, June 5th

6:48am: The Greene County ER requested an officer to 1000 West Lincoln Way for a patient wishing to relinquish his firearms until a relative could come to Jefferson and take possession of them. The officer took control of several firearms at the subject’s residence and released them later to a family member.

8:50am: Angie Healy reported a Stray Dog at 1000 West Lincoln Way Street. The officer placed the dog in the Animal Holding Facility.

2:46pm: A caller advised that a male, who is on the Sex Offender Registry, was working on a roof. The caller was concerned as it is close to a park and the swimming pool. The officer checked and there is no requirement for the subject not to be in the area of a park/pool.

2:17pm: A Stuart PD Officer requested assistance form a Jefferson officer in locating a female in

Jefferson and requesting she contact the Stuart PD. The officer relayed the information to the female subject in Jefferson.

6:45pm: Janet Bass reported a faulty smoke detector in her apartment at 1216 Westwood Drive. The officer advised her to contact the maintenance person for her apartment.

7:45pm: Officers assisted with a Medical Call in the 100 Block of Est Adams Street.

5:45pm: Officers assisted a deputy with a vehicle reported to be on the train tracks east of Jefferson.

Sunday, June 6th

12:18am: An officer located damage to the roof of the restrooms at Washington Park. The officers believes it may be old damage from a tree branch falling on the roof. He will verify the damage is old with Park & Rec Dept.

1:32am: An officer checked on subjects sleeping in a vehicle at Fareway, located at 1207 North Elm Street. The officer was advised the vehicle had run out of fuel and help was on the way.

2:59am: An officer checked on a male walking in the 600 Block of East Lincoln Way. The subject lives in the area and was walking home.

6:19am: A Traffic Stop in the 700 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Wyatt Spohn of WI. Being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

9:09am: A Traffic Stop in the 1800 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Zachary Schmitt of Dubuque being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

9:30am: Brittany Smith reported the Theft of items from 304 North Chestnut Street. She advised she has video footage of the Theft and provided the officer with two suspects. The officer is waiting for a list of reported missing items and is investigating.

10:31am: Beth DeMoss reported a Stray Dog near 303 Rushview Drive. The owner of the animal took custody of the dog before the officer’s arrival.

1:29pm: Everett Beebe reported an Open Door on the residence at 205 North Locust Street. The officer secured the residence.

3:31pm: An officer was called to a Backing Accident in the Rec Center parking lot at 204 West Harrison Street. A 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, owned by Erica Burris and operated by Brian Burris of Scranton, was backing from a parking lot and struck a vehicle travelling north in the lot. The 2019 Dodge Caravan was owned by Enterprise FM Trust and operated by Rachel Haupert of Jefferson. Very minor damages were suffered in the accident.

4:49pm: Lynn Griffin requested a Welfare Check on a male at 1216 Westwood Drive. She was at the residence, but the male will not answer the door. The officer was able to get the subject to answer the door and all was fine.

6:05pm: Nick Wenk reported he was following a van on 220th, eastbound towards Jefferson. He reported the vehicle is swerving all over the road. The officer located the vehicle in Jefferson getting fuel and spoke to the driver. No signs of impairment were noticed by the officer. He spoke to subject about the driving complaint.

6:44pm: Jessica Larson brought a Stray Dog to the LEC. The animal had owner tags and was released the owner, with a Verbal Warning for the “Animal at Large.”

9:05pm: A Carroll County Deputy requested a Jefferson officer to assist him with a Civil Property Issue occurring at 608 South Locust concerning a pressure washer. The officer spoke to the subject in Jefferson, who brought the pressure washer to the LEC to be picked up by the Carroll owner.

10:53pm: An officer removed a dead deer from the roadway at 220th and Oakland.
