Dallas Center – Grimes girls soccer was able to put together a big performance last Friday night against Clear Creek – Amana, with the Mustangs picking a 2-0 victory to advance to the state tournament, which begins tomorrow. Their opponent, the Titans of Lewis Central will be their first round opponent, with the Mustangs coming in at 13-5 and Lewis Central at 17-2.

The matchup is a 2 vs. 7 showing between the two schools, with both teams playing excellent competition throughout the season. These two schools last played in 2018, with Lewis Central winning 2-0, but DCG leads the overall series at 2-1. The Mustangs have been able to find some big performances throughout the season, but will have to find one of their best defensive gems of the year, with Lewis Central putting one of the highest amounts of goals in the state, 113 total through their 19 games. Even more amazing in the lack of goals they have given up, only 11 on the season, so DCG will have their hands full, though they have some terrific talent themselves.

The match will be played from Cownie Park in Des Moines at 1 pm. If you are looking for coverage of the game, make sure that you dial in to 997 and 1310 KDLS, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KDLS app.
