Getting hits and scoring runs have been difficult for the Greene County High School baseball team. That trend, especially inside the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball schedule continued on Friday night with a 6-1 loss in State Center to West Marshall. Coach Matt Paulsen’s team fell to 0-5 on the season and 0-4 in the league, although the Rams did score a run for the first time in four HOIAC contests.
The Trojans hit a three run homer in the first inning, scored two in the third and one in the fifth. The Rams got on the board in the sixth. Bryce Stalder pitched a complete game for Greene County, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and a walk. He hit two batters with pitches and struck out seven.
Offensively, the Rams had four hits with two by Stalder and one each for Kole Teeples and Joe Carey. WM issued four walks to the Rams and each team played solid defense with two Greene County errors and one on the Trojans.
Greene County is on the bus again this morning playing in the Boone Tournament at Memorial Park vs. Boone at 10 a.m. and Algona at 12 p.m.
