The name of the driver of a single vehicle fatality in Greene County Friday morning has been released.
Iowa State Patrol District 4 Resource Officer Shelby McCreedy tells Raccoon Valley Radio 30-year-old Theodore McGinnis of Des Moines was traveling south on J Avenue and north of 330th Street in Greene County, when sometime between 4:30 and 5am, his 2007 Chevrolet Impala hit a pheasant. The incident led to McGinnis veering his vehicle to the west shoulder, then he over-corrected, crossed the centerline and entered the east embankment.
McCreedy says the vehicle rotated several times before coming to a rest facing north-northwest. She notes McGinnis was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation was handled by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance.
