Greene County baseball plays at non-conference opponent Van Meter tonight for a JV/varsity doubleheader. The Bulldogs are a Class 2A power while the Rams have struggled in recent seasons.

VM is 4-0 this year and have put up 38 runs while allowing only five. The Bulldogs have a team batting averaging of .334 with 13 doubles through their first four games and tonight’s contest is the fourth in a row at home for VM.

Coach Matt Paulsen’s team took the field three times last week and the Rams are still looking for their first win. They played a suspended game vs. Nodaway Valley that won’t be finished, then were shut out twice in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play; 8-0 by Roland-Story at Story City, and 11-0 by South Hamilton (Jewell) in Jefferson.

The Rams are back home tomorrow night at Allensworth Field vs. PCM (Monroe) before playing Friday in State Center vs. West Marshall. Greene County meets Boone and Algona on Saturday at Memorial Park in Boone to close out the week.
