When the Guthrie Center Aquatic Center opens for the season tomorrow, the public will get to utilize a new facility.
Parks and Recreation Board President Chris Bunde says their new bathhouse was recently completed, which has been a few years in the making. The new structure came from the five-year improvement plan and it combines replacing two facilities into one single building.
“We decided to put a plan together to replace the pool house and include in that replacement external facing bathrooms, so that folks you want to enjoy the park area have a place to use the facilities, instead of leaving the park and going home, or having to go uptown.”
Bunde points out there will be a special open house event to show off the new bathhouse on June 19th.
The pool will be open from 1-4:45pm and 6-7:45pm Monday through Friday, with an early swim time from 6-7am. Bunde notes that they are encouraging people to socially distance themselves, but otherwise, there are no other COVID-19 precautions, other than pool staff cleaning on a regular basis.
Bunde says daily and season passes are available at the pool or city hall for purchase.
