Dallas Center – Grimes boys soccer competed on Wednesday night for the opportunity to advance to state next week, and they accomplished their mission, defeating the Gilbert Tigers by the score of 3-0. DCG moves to 16-3 on the season while Gilbert finishes the season at 12-9.

DCG was able to score two goals in the first half, as Jacob Ewers and Kendell Bickford were both able to find the back of the net to help the Mustangs grab a big lead early on, and then were able to put the final nails in the coffin with a goal in the second half. Defense played a huge factor throughout the night for the Mustangs, as they were able to hold another opponent scoreless.

This is the Mustangs ninth straight win, as they continue to peak at the right time with excellent offense and stellar defense.

Mustang soccer will be playing in Des Moines next Tuesday for the 2A soccer tournament, as they will be the 2 seed in the tournament. They will be taking on the 7 seed Waverly – Shell Rock, with that matchup slated to begin at 3 o’clock.
