Dallas Center – Grimes girls golf participated in the 4A Region-1 at the Willow Creek Golf Course in West Des Moines on Monday. The Mustangs were able to grab a 2nd place performance to advance to the state tournament next week when they grabbed a team score of 380. The score was eleven shots ahead of Johnston to help the Mustangs qualify.
The Mustangs were buoyed by Laura Klaessy and Kaylin Petrak, as both players were able to grab a 90 to solidify solid rounds. Emerson Kleis was able to grab a 91 as all three of those golfers were able to make top 10 performances for the Mustangs. Kaylee Huinker and Chloe Traver were both able to tally up the last score as both players grabbed a 109 to help round out the scoring for the Mustangs.
West Des Moines Valley won the seven team meet with a 308 team score.
DCG will be playing at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny next week when they participate in the two day golf tournament on June 1-2.
