Saturday was the final day of the 2021 Iowa High School Coed State Track & Field Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Greene County boys finished in fourth place twice with Jackson Morton in the Class 2A 110 meter high hurdles, and the shuttle hurdle relay with Nate Black, Jaxon Warnke, Bryce Stalder, and Morton. Morton qualified for the finals on Friday with the seventh fastest time and the shuttle hurdle relay qualified on Thursday with the sixth fastest time. Both finished much better than their seed.
Morton ran 15.18 seconds in Saturday’s final and was just .06 out of third place. The shuttle hurdle relay ran a season best 1:01.65, a time that was 1.18 seconds faster than their time in the prelims and .62 seconds faster than at any other time this season. Warnke is the lone senior and the other three are juniors.
The Greene County girls had one event on Saturday. The Rams were 24th in the Class 2A Sprint Medley relay in 1:59.02 with Annie Twillie, Natalie Heupel, Olivia Shannon, and Katrina Heupel.
