Recently, the Stuart City Council approved using tax increment financing (TIF) funds for the All Saints Center to help with operating expenses.
Saints Center Manager Greg Dudley says the facility received $30,000 in TIF funds to help offset operating expenses. Dudley explains some of the expenses that come up during the course of a year, including nine furnaces that heat the building. He talks about other uses of the additional funds.
“I’m really hoping to use it as some marketing and some advertising and stuff to be able to get some local bands and concerts and activities and stuff like that to be able to afford to pay for them to come and play and just bring some activity to the community.”
Dudley tells Raccoon Valley Radio the recent additional funding will help a great deal including helping to pay the insurance or possible renovations including repairing the dome that leaks during heavy rain.
“Right now with the expenses that it is, I’ve been using a lot of my own money to keep the place operating. This will really help.”
The City Council approved the measure last month and may reassess on a yearly basis.
