With the recent passage of the vaccine passport ban out of the Iowa Senate, one lawmaker is supportive of the legislation.

State Senator for District 10 Jake Chapman says as the Senate President he doesn’t typically floor manage legislation but as the vaccine passport ban came over from the House, he had a hand in this bill that he believes is important.

“What I would say is that we are seeing, across the United States, what I would say is an overreach of both private and public industry restricting Americans from being able to exercise their constitutional rights or their ability to even go to a baseball game. I mean it’s absurd.”

Chapman tells Raccoon Valley Radio he feels Iowans shouldn’t have to show a permission slip to be able to go to places such as the grocery store. Chapman feels it is a good bill that protects everyone’s liberties.

“We wanted to make sure that we are protecting Iowans from tyrannical overreach by both private and public industry and that’s what we did.”

The vaccine passport ban legislation has passed both the Senate and House and is awaiting to be signed by Governor Kim Reynolds to become law.
