Going into the next basketball season, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Boy’s Basketball team will have a new head coach.
Trevor Mickelson was officially approved by the school board as the head boy’s basketball coach. Mickelson has been a part of the Waukee boys basketball team as a lead assistant basketball coach, which is the same team that won the 2021 Class 4-A State Championship, and Mickelson looks to bring that pedigree to ADM.
“The biggest thing that I am hoping to bring to ADM is just an understanding and kind of having a knowledge of the recipe and the formula of what it takes to be successful.”
Mickelson tells Raccoon Valley Radio he is excited about the communities that ADM serves. Mickelson says he is ready to become a part of the community and says people should be ready for ADM to continue their success.
“We are going to be able to hit the ground running (by) end of October into November once practices start. I think we have a really good core of players. I’ve been able to get in and meet them and watch them work out and they seem like a really tough group of kids that really is eager to work hard. That would be the thing I’m looking forward to is putting together a team that’s exciting to watch but also is going to bring a ton of pride to the community.”
Mickelson says he will continue to teach social studies in Waukee while also being the head boy’s basketball coach in ADM.
