When the 2021 Coed State Track & Field Meet begins on Thursday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Paton-Churdan will be represented. The Rockets have senior Danielle Hoyle throwing the shot on Thursday and the discus on Friday. Hoyle is the first P-C athlete in five years to qualify, and the first female thrower in a very long time to compete at State.
Coach Pat Kruse told Raccoon Valley Radio the 6′ 3″ all-around athlete has made great strides as a thrower. She hadn’t thrown since junior high, although Hoyle did go out last year, but the Pandemic cancelled the season prior to the Rockets’ first meet.
She enters State competition as the top qualifier in the discus throw at 133′ 7″ and number four in the shot put at 40′ 3″. Hoyle throws the shot at 3 p.m. Thursday and the discus Friday p.m. at 3:3o p.m.
