The Perry Community School District is prepared to send its seniors off this year.
Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger says graduation will take place at 2 p.m. May 30th at Dewey Field in Perry. Marburger says the hopes are for it to be outside and if it is the attendance will be unlimited, but still with social distancing measures. There is an alternative plan if the weather does not cooperate.
“If for any reason that we have inclement weather that moves in, we will go to the gym and we do have a four ticket limit for in the gymnasium if we happen to do that but we are sure hoping that we can have great weather like we did last year and go outside.”
Marburger tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the awards ceremony will be taking place virtually on May 19th with people being able to watch the ceremony on Facebook. Marburger talks about the importance of having graduation this year.
“It really was important. Last year’s seniors, this year’s seniors, they still missed quite a bit. Whether its cancelled events, quarantines, whatever it might be. So, we really did try to get back to normal as much as we can.”
Marburger says they will announce the scholarships and awards on May 19th and post the video on the school district Facebook page at 6 p.m.
