A major employer in Perry has announced a grant to a Perry School District youth program.

Tyson recently donated $20,000 to the Perry Academic, Cultural and Enrichment Services (P.A.C.E.S.) program. The grant funds will be used to provide additional nutrition and summer staff for P.A.C.E.S. Additionally, the grant will aim to help improve the health and well-being of P.A.C.E.S participants in the summer learning center program.

How P.A.C.E.S. plans to execute those goals is by supplying nutritious snacks daily, a weekend backpack food program for students in need and funding that will help provide additional staff to help meet COVID-19 required social distancing guidelines.

P.A.C.E.S is in its 21st year and serves 140 students daily from 6 a.m .to 6 p.m. including the summer months. P.A.C.E.S was also recently awarded an A+ School by the Iowa Afterschool Alliance.
