As the month of May continues, school boards are being celebrated for the work they do.
Perry Schools Superintendent Clark Wicks says this past year has been unusual with the coronavirus pandemic and school boards have had to make decisions they might not have had to make in the past.
“With that comes many decisions on what to do with our school to make sure that kids are safe, kids are learning, kids are online, kids are on site. Tons of special meetings. So, as a board and a board member and during this month we want to say ‘thank you.’”
Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio there is an importance of the partnership between the community, staff members and the school board, with making those decisions throughout the past year and beyond that.
“We are fortunate here in Perry in the sense that we have five board members that have a great deal of Perry pride and I’m very proud of that and I want to thank the board and I know a lot of people do.”
School Board Appreciation Month is throughout the entire month of May.
