The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.
The Council approved two rezoning proposals, following public hearings. One was to rezone properties on Reed and Cedar streets from residential single family to residential multifamily so that Andy Rowland with Rowland Construction can build new rental units. The other properties were 504 and 506 East Clark Street to be rezoned from light industrial to residential multifamily, due to Region XII Council of Governments having built houses on those lots.
Next, the Council approved an eighth pay estimate of $169,086 to Caliber Concrete for work done on the shared use trail at Daubendiek Park and the third pay estimate of $107,047 to Concrete Technologies for work completed on the next phase of the runway extension project at the airport. Additionally, the Council set May 25th as the public hearing date to sell 100 East State Street, the former Angie’s Tea Garden, to the private organization of Why Not Us.
The Council then approved the quarterly funding request from Greene County Development Corporation as presented. Finally, Mayor Pro Tem Harry Ahrenholtz mentioned a series of sewer rate increases would be needed in order for the City to finance building a new wastewater treatment plant. The proposed increase would be 5.5-percent for each of the next five fiscal years.
