Two organizations in the City of Jefferson recently received two tourism awards.

The Iowa Tourism Office and the Travel Federation of Iowa selected the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower as the outstanding attraction for the rural category and Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community won the outstanding promotional material award for rural. The City of Jefferson was the only entity two receive two awards, either for rural or metro, out of the 25 that were given during the recently held Iowa Tourism Conference in Des Moines.

Tourism in Iowa generates nearly $9.3 billion of expenses and $540 million in state taxes, while employing over 70,000 people statewide. Click the link below to see the full list of award recipients.
