A Jefferson man was recently sentenced to prison for a September incident.

Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn tells Raccoon Valley Radio 32-year-old Nathaniel Aldrich was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to a lesser charge of a Class D Felony, as a habitual offender for willful injury resulting in bodily injury.

The charge stemmed from an incident on September 13th when Jefferson Police Officers responded to a call of an assault in the 300 block of West Washington Street at 6:55pm. The victim said Aldrich came to the residence to pick up his property, but then an argument turned physical.

Laehn says at the sentence hearing on Monday, Aldrich requested probation and Laehn argued and won for the maximum 15 year prison sentence. He points out that a Class D Felony typically carries a maximum five year prison sentence, but because Aldrich was previously convicted on at least two prior felony charges, his prison sentence was enhanced to 15 years. As per the plea agreement, Aldrich had his two other misdemeanor charges of domestic abuse assault causing serious injury and domestic abuse assault dismissed.
