The Guthrie County Public Health Department continues to work towards its goal of herd immunity against COVID-19.

Public Health Director Jotham Arber told the Guthrie County Supervisors Tuesday  his goal is to get 75-percent of the county fully vaccinated by July. He shared some positive news on that front.

“Our 65+ (population), they’re already there, we’re at 96-percent. We’re 1,800 people away from being at 75-percent. We are going to try and have a big push in May to try and get there before July. We’re going to open up some evening clinics, we’ll be open until 8 o’clock (pm) and we’ll open up some Saturday clinics so that people who are working, we’ll try and take that barrier away from them so they can get access to the shot.”

Arber noted that they have scheduled clinics throughout the month of May for the individuals who received their first vaccine shot to get their second one. He added less than one-percent of those who received their first shot did not get their second shot.
