The five match win streak by the Greene County High School boys’ soccer team ended on Tuesday night at Karber Field in Grand Junction when Winterset downed the Rams 5-1. Greene County is now 6-3 while the Huskies improved to 4-5.
The Rams scored less than 90 seconds into the contest when freshman Gesser Aguilar found the net for his third goal of the season. Little did the Rams know that would be their only goal of the contest. The Huskies led 2-1 at the half, then put the match away with three more goals in the second half. Winterset entered the match averaging less than two goals per game, and the Huskies held the Rams to a season low in goals scored while the five goals allowed by Greene County is a season high.
The Rams, ranked tied for ninth in the April 27 Iowa Soccer Coaches Association Class 1A poll, play in Carroll tomorrow vs. Kuemper Catholic at 5:30 p.m. at the Kuemper Fieldhouse.
